The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed support for His Excellency Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, saying he is committed to backing his political aspirations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Obasa spoke on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Hamzat, as part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders across the state.
In a light moment, the speaker said he had considered mobilising a large crowd from Agege to receive the deputy governor.
“I almost thought of bringing the whole of Agege to welcome you, but that it would have been too much to manage,” he said.
He added that his support, and that of his political structure, remains firm, assuring Hamzat that he will continue to support and encourage him in every way possible.
Obasa also said discussions had begun within his political group, adding that further engagements would take place in the coming weeks.
Hamzat, in his remarks, said the visit provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement on the state’s future, noting that he “had a thoughtful discussion on the direction of the state.”
The deputy governor shared his priorities, reaffirming his commitment to doing the work that will keep the state on track.
The visit forms part of a series of consultations by the deputy governor as political activities gradually build up ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Lagos.
